Second hand shopping ehk isetut heategu pole olemas

Ma olen suuuuuuuur taaskasutuse ja second hand poodide sõber. Viimased paar aastat ei ole ma põhimõtteliselt isegi kaubanduskeskustes käinud (noh nii et kohe shoppamas või nii), vaid soetan suurema osa asjadest mõnest taaskasutuspoest. Põhjuseid on rohkem kui üks, nt 1) hinnad on kordades soodsamad, 2) leida võib tõeliselt uskumatuid pärleid, 3) võid kindel olla, et sama asi ei ole igal teisel samal ajal seljas 4) heategevus.

Eile sattusin ma Moelvis juhuslikult Storgatal mööda sõitma sellisest poest nagu Ting og Tøy. Lillehammeri samas poes on suurepärane valik cd-sid ja dvd-sid (hinnad ca 2 eur/tk) ja ma tahtsin näha, kas ma ehk leian Idale mõned norra keelsed filmid. Läks nii hästi, et ma sain lisaks muule ka Kardemoni linna röövlite ja Vahtramäe Emili cd. Ja “øisteini pliiatsi”. See viimane on selline khuul lastesaade, kus mees nimega øistein õpetab joonistama, nii et natuke pingutades oskab ka minusugune täielik võhik mingeid naljakaid kasse ja trolle joonistada. Dvd kaanel on näha C tähte, mis kassiks muutus. Geniaalsed ja kihvtid ideed. IMG_3061.JPG

Endale sain ma linase Noa Noa kleidi (50nok) ja kaelaeehte (20nok) ja siis leidsin ma SELLE, mida ma juba eraldi postituses näitasin. Pluus on küll kahjuks väike (komplekt oli ilmselt valesti kokku pandud), nii et kui kellelgi on vaja rahvariidelikku pluusi suuruses 86, mul on. Kingad sain ka Idale. Praktiliselt kandmata. Kui ma siis maksma läksin, selgus et minu kaart selles poes ei toimi. Mul oli rahakotis sularaha vaid pool sellest summast, mis vaja läks ja teate mis…ma sain täpselt 50% allahindlust. Ei mingit “mine otsi sularahaautomaat” või muud sellist, lihtsalt äärmiselt sümpaatne suhtumine.

Täna kui meie kohvreid pakkisin, sorteerisin ma ka natuke riideid ning mänguasju. Neid on ikka kogunenud. Ma otsustasin need sinna poodi viia. Mitte et ma oleks ainus või teinud midagi nii üllast, kuid mind võeti vastu nagu heategijat, keda ette ja taha tänati, nii et mul paratamatult tekkis selline hea tunne sisse. Et olen päeva õigesti alustanud või nii. Ma lubasin järgmine kord kui kohvreid pakin, jälle kriitilise pilguga asjad üle vaadata. Kellelgi on neid asju kindlasti rohkem vaja. Kusjuures osa tulust selles poes läheb Eesti, Läti , Leedu, Rumeenia abivajajatele. 2x kohe hea tunne oli. Kunagi jäi mulle kõrvu üks selline lause, et isetut heategu ei ole olemas. Ei ole jah vist. Sest mina sain vastutasuks sellele kotitäiele asjadele hea enesetunde. See hea tunne.

Kui satute siia kanti (Moelv on 20-25 km Lillehammerist), siis külastage kindlasti seda Storgatal asuvat poodi.

// I am ahuge fan of reuse and second hand/vintage clothes. I think it happened when I was preagnant with Ida that I suddenly almost stopped shopping in “real” stores. Of course I’ve been to shopping centres and regular shops, but I find second hand shops with much more soul. The prices are good, the choices are better, you don’t have to be worried that everyone else is wearing the same thing and then there’s of course the part of charity. It’s important to help others. I hope one day I can do more than I do now.

But back to the topic. Yesterday I by accident drove by a Ting & Tøy second hand store in Moelv. Right on Storgata. Of course I stopped, because in Ting & Tøy Lillehammer there are wonderful things to find. And they have dvd-s and cd-s. Last I bought “Once we were warriors” ( a new zealand movie, which Faylyn introduced me) and “Men of Honour”. For 40 Nok. Today I hoped to find some movies and cds to Ida. In Norwegian, so that perhaps she will keep a bit of Norwegian language when we move back to Estonia. I found more than I could expect. Two fairy tale cd-s and some movies she likes. 20nok/pc. 

For myself I found a linen Noa Noa dress for 50 nok and a necklace for 20 nok and then the festdrakt for Ida, which I showed in last post.

When I wanted to pay we found out that my credit card is not working in this shop and I only had a bit of cash in my wallet. To little to pay for everything. And you know what -. I got a discount. “It’s enough with what you have” the lovely lady in the shop told me. I was so surprised of her kindness. 

Today when I was packing our suitcases I thought we have too many clothes and toyes. I decided to take them to this shop. As a thank you for yesterday. I didn’t do anything special, but the lady who was working there thanked my like i was some kind of a saint. And it was such a good feeling to start the day so positively. I promised to come back with more things later in September or October. I especially liked that one of the purposes of the shop is to help people in need in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Romania. Life in Estonia looks pink and bubbly on magazines, but the reality is somewhat different. Especially in small places. 

Anyway when you are in Moelv (it’s 20-25 km) from Lillehammer, between Hamar and Lillehammer, make sure to visit the shop on Storgata. It’s filled with kindness, warmth and good prices and nice things. 

 

Camp Grandma

Ega siin suurt midagi polegi kirjutada, sest pilt ütleb rohkem kui tuhat sõna, aga me oleme nüüd kolm päeva vanama juures Vasulas olnud. Selline naljakas lapsepõlve tunne tuli peale, sest ega ma pole ju siin Vasulas väga palju ööbinud täiskasvanuna. Kes see puberteedina ikka tahab maale vanma juurde minna ja no hiljem olid juba muud huvid ja tegemised. No ja nüüd me siis olemegi siin olnud.

Alustasime oma Lõuna-Eesti reisi vana hea kohvik O külastamisega.

Ma olin jummalast üllatunud, et Vasulasse on mingi täiesti okei ujumiskoht tekkinud. Vanasti oli Vasula suurim miinus see, et siin ei olnud kusagil ujuda. Jões oli, aga see oli kiire vooluga ja sinna meid omapäi väga ei lastud. Nüüd on Vasulas aga täiesti adekvaatne beach olemas.

Vasulasse sõites sõitsin ma mööda mingist Tabiveres asuvast rannast ja mõtlesin kui kohutav koht see oli. Megasuur parkla, otsast otsani autosid täis ja siis nii tilluke killuke ujumisrand, et mulle tundus, et inimesed päevitasid reaalselt üksteisel seljas. Kes tahab niimoodi üksteise otsas ujumas käia? (Ilmselgelt paljud muidugi, sest see killuke oli paksult rahvast täis ju.)

Elistvere loomapark (LINK) on selline koht, kuhu tasub minna nii lastega või lasteta. Nii armas ja kodune väike loomapark. Karu magas armsalt põõsa all peidus, põhjapõder jooksis oma aedikus ringiratast…Kõige naljakam oli see, et närilisi Ida kartis, aga mammutit (loe: piisonit) nähes läks täiega elevusse.

Noh ja ülejäänud aja oleme me lihtsalt Camp Grandmas chillinud. Ma ei mäleta, kuna siin muidu nii rahvast oli kui praegu. Me like. Sest palju rahvast, sh sõnakuulelikke lapsi, tähendab palju lapsehoidjaid.

No vot. Ja hakkabki otsa saama see “seiklusrikas merereis”. Homme on aeg tagasi reaalsusesse naasta, sest kuigi töö pole jänes, mis eest ära jookseb, siis selline maaidüll ikka arveid ei maksa ja millegi eest on vaja leib lauale teenida. The End.

The last three days we have been in South Estonia at grandma´s. It´s a weird feeling of childhood, because I don´t remember when I last stayed at grandma´s for so long. Who wants to stay in the countryside when in puberty and later I had other things to do, other places to visit. Now we have stayed here just like in the old times. “Old times” sounds like we are fossils:D

We started our trip with visit to lovely café O (LINK) in Põltsmaa. Always worth a visit. And Elistvere Animal Park. It is such a cute park not far from Tartu. Elistvere Animal Park, founded originally as a home for orphaned and injured animals, has now become a home for the descendants of these animals and also inhabitants exchanged from other animal parks and homes. The aim of the park is to provide nature education and offer possibilities to observe wild animals in their natural environment.Read more HERE. 

And besides that we have just been chillin´. But the fun now starts to come to end, although the idyllic countryliving is fun, it does not pay bills and it´s time to return to everyday life. 

 

My secret garden in Stockholm

I have been to Sweden at least once every year since childhood and Stockholm has always been one of my favorite cities. So elegant and royal, but still cozy and homey. I remember when I was a child my great aunt´s Swedish friend used to send her post cards with Swedish royalties and I was for a long time convinced that my great aunt herself knows the queen and king of Sweden. Or at least has a friend who knows them, how else could you get photos of them, right? Don`t forget that I was born in 1981 – Estonia was hidden well behind the iron curtain and I had no idea that somewhere there is a land where you can buy these kinds of photo post cards from the shops.

The first time when I visited our Swedish relatives in 1990`s I was shocked to see the toy store. Barbies  – more than I could count – standing on the shelves, I will not even start to tell you what I felt when I saw the candy store! Yes, it was an advantage of having relatives abroad.

I am sorry for such a long introduction, which actually has nothing to do with the secret garden I wanted to tell you about. I just have so many nice memories from Sweden, it´s easy to get lost in thoughts:)

I think it was two years ago we discover Rosendals Trädgården and from that first moment I fell in love with the place.  It`s easily accessed by car and public transportation (opening times and directions HERE) and  worth a visit every season. I have been there on summertime, spring and even winter (note that they are closed in January) and it always has something to offer. I of course feel it´s most beautiful on summertime, when you can sit in the apple garden and enjoy a glass of wine or spend time on playground with child(ren).

Rosendal’s Garden is an open garden, with the main purpose of presenting biodynamic (organic) garden cultivation to the general public.

Besides environmental considerations in all gardening work, all produce used in  food processing is selected with utmost care. The garden crops are served at tables, and leftovers go back to the compost heap, providing first-rate soil for next year’s growth. Visitors can actually feel the continuity of a connected whole.

Since 1984, a self-supporting foundation manages the garden, without grants or subsidies. The proceeds from café, bakery, and shops directly support garden maintenance.

In the café, they serve coffee and tea, sandwiches, pastries, and light lunch dishes, with nothing but organically grown ingredients. All bread, pies, buns, cookies and cakes come from own Bakery, boasting a wood-fired stone oven built in 1998.

The Garden Shop offers selected organic foods, bread from Bakery, and organic fruit and vegetables. There are home-made herb teas, rose and lavender sugar, herbal salts and other exciting seasonings.
Here you find a nice choice of ecological olive oils and balsamic vinegars; selected natural skin care products and beautiful French soaps; as well as an assortment of tea cups, plates, vases, hand-printed tea towels, and other handicraft products.

The Plant Shop at Rosendal is found in one of the old greenhouses, where visitors can buy a little bit of the Rosendal garden to take home. During summer, they offer a carefully selected assortment of garden plants – most of them the same varieties as in our own garden, perennial flower beds, and herb and spice garden.

They sell old-fashioned roses, many of which can be seen in our Rose garden, below the Orangery. There is also a nice range of orangery plants: potted Mediterranean plants such as olive, laurel, fig, and citrus trees.

The Plant Shop also sells beautiful garden tools and other accessories for home-growing: soil, pots, wooden barrels, trellises, hammocks, bird-baths, and other handicraft.
The choice of vegetables on sale follow the season: in the harvest months, gardeners deliver fresh vegetables every morning.

Of course there are MANY places to visit when in Stockholm, but I truly recommend to take a bit time to walk through Rosendals, it not far from the amusement park and Abba Museum. For me it has become one of these places which I must visit, and I am pretty sure you will feel the same.
